This course is designed to give an overall view of the skills, and techniques to build and lead a successful team

 

Successful candidates will achieve 3 credits at level 2  awarded by  the Open College Network

Course content

•Introduction and course aims.  An outline of the course which will give candidates an opportunity to meet each other and the trainer.  Candidates will be able to discuss their prior experience and discuss what they expect from the course

•Supervising a team.  Candidates will be required to demonstrate the skills required for supervising a team, including knowing the information required by team members and how to deploy team members to the best effect.  They will also learn how to act in a fair and non discriminatory manner.

•Use of electronic communications.  Candidates will learn correct  procedure including use of prowords and the phonetic alphabet.

•Familiarisation with  work site.  It is important that candidates appreciate the various facilities available on their work site, the map signs for these and who may use the facilities.

•Drug Awareness.  Candidates will have an opportunity to learn more about drugs, their effects and how to spot and deal with users.

•Responding to emergency situations.  Each organisation has an agreed policy for dealing with emergencies, and the supervisor should be aware of how this works, and their responsibilities in an emergency situation.

•Dealing with complaints.  Each organisation has an agreed policy for dealing with complaints, and the supervisor should be aware of how this works, and their responsibilities when a complaint is raised.
